Core Dynamics For Our Project

Once we had learnt about core dynamic allowing to understand why they're needed in a game, and then learning of some of the different types of dynamics, we were required to establish the core dynamic for the game we'll be creating for this project.

For this task, we needed to get together as a group and discuss the possibilities of each dynamic within our game, using the story/narrative concepts I currently had at the time (as the final story/narrative has not been confirmed and finalised as of yet, since this is the first week of the project and I feel as if this is something that shouldn't be rushed.

Upon discussing with my group, we went through the examples of dynamics and talked about what ones would fit the decided concept of our game.

We had decided that a key part of the game would be collecting pieces of a letter or map, that allows entry

/access to the next level or section of the game. Because we felt that this would end up being one of the key features of the game, we felt it was necessary for the core dynamic to be 'collecting'.

However, we also felt that it would be possible for the game to include enemies (still a concept that we're thinking about) and because of this we felt that a secondary core dynamic, being 'survival' could also be used.

After this activity, as a group, we have (currently) come to the conclusion that the game we are creating for this project will have the core dynamics of 'collecting' and 'survival'.
The next step will now be to try and further develop the story concept, while considering these dynamics and how they can be effectively portrayed.
