This page shows the planning that I started when I was about to start my journal entries. ​However, due to a lack of time, I never managed to carry out this task, but I still decided to show the planning (as I had carried out research and planning).

Journal Entry Planning:

Below I will list out some of the different areas that I could write journal entries for, for each of my characters. However, I have missed some characters out as not all of the characters would be able to write them (Such as Octavia or the Mecha Shark). Because of this, I have only listed the human characters (main and secondary).

Characters/concepts:
 

Ace

• Journal entry/entries from before getting the mechanical arm from his father.

• Journal entries the day of getting his mechanical arm.

• Entries from after the Litore Island invasion/attack (after his mother’s death).

• Entries after meeting each new crew member/completing each island and obtaining the map fragment

• Thoughts/feeling for the crew later at different points of the journey (early on/end).

• Thoughts/feelings after the initial encounter with the shark.

• Journal entry after obtaining the final map fragment and completing the map

• Journal entry after the ‘commotion in the ocean’. With Ace having found his father and escaped the Mecha Shark with him.
   

Amelia

• Journal entries of her youth/growing up on Litore Island

• Entries after meeting Hugh/marrying him

• Entries for the time her and Hugh took Leonard in/cared for him

• Giving birth to Ace

• Ace sneaking onto the fishing boat to help/eventually letting him join the journey each time

• Hugh going on his journey and never returning
   

Hugh

• Life on Litore as a child/growing up

• Life as a respected engineer

• Meeting/marrying Amelia

• Taking in Leonard/caring for him

• Amelia giving birth to Ace

• His constant journey to other islands

• Development of the mechanical arm prototype for his Son, Ace

• Accident resulting in the loss of his own arm, and then his testing of the mechanical arm on himself

• Gifting his son with a mechanical arm, which used the prototype arm as a basis

• His final journey before going missing/finding the maps/being eaten by the Mecha shark

• Life inside the Mecha Shark

• Being found by his son and his son’s crew/managing to repair and upgrade their ship.

• Life after escaping the Mecha Shark with Ace and his crew/thoughts on his son and those who are now helping/helped him.
   

Leonard

• Life on Litore Island with his parents./helping with their job as fishermen.

• The impact of his parents dying/being left alone.

• Being taken in by Amelia and Hugh after the death of his parents.

• Becoming more independent and carrying on with his parents work alone/then being joined by Amelia.

• Birth of Ace/how that changed his life (if it did).

• Ace being able to help more once getting his mechanical arm.

• Hugh going on his journey and never returning.

• The death of Amelia.

• The journey with Ace.

• Thoughts/feeling for the crew later at different points of the journey (early on/end, Initial views and how this changed).

• Initial encounter of the Mecha Shark/ship being wrecked by the Mecha Shark/Stealing the new ship from the pirates that attack them

• Final encounter with the shark/finding Hugh/escaping the shark and returning to Litore together
   

Shurik

• Life on Glacies Island before the events of the story (linking to backstory) – Attacks on the island and feeling useless, leading to the determination to become a Doctor

• Life now as a Doctor.

• Initial encounter with Ace and seeking help (does he believe they’ll succeed? Or is it more hope?)

• Deciding to join Ace’s crew – his reason for this.

• Thoughts/feeling for the crew later at different points of the journey (early on/end, Initial views and how this changed).

• Initial encounter with the Mecha Shark.

• Final encounter with the Mecha shark/being consumed.

• Thoughts on Hugh’s conditions, and how he managed to survive inside of the shark for all this time.

• Managing to escape the shark/defeating it.

 

Rosa

• Life before the events of the game – Learning to blacksmith with her parents.

• Watching as the ship her parents were was sunk/consumed by the Mecha Shark.

• Life without her parents/managing the blacksmith alone.

• The events leading to her becoming more of a hardened and fierce individual – people trying to con her/steal.

• Creation of her signature guns/cannons.

• The initial encounter with Ace – Hopes of what will happen if she joins him on the remainder of his journey.

• Encounter with the shark – thoughts/feeling of finally encountering it/being consumed/finding Ace’s dad.

• Managing to escape and finally defeat the shark (and avenging her parents).

 

I now feel as though I have a decent number of topics/areas I could make journal entries for, for each of my relevant characters. Although I have listed a number of topics/areas (around 58 topics/areas in total), I’m likely only going to create around two entries for two or three characters, as the deadline of my project is just around the corner, and I want to spend a full week updating and improving the posts on my blog. However, with this task being complete, the planning is there so if I have time to write more, I have already planned them, and they just need to be written.

Coming back to this task, I have been unable to spare the time to write any journal entries. Although this isn't too much of a problem, as I didn't need them for the exhibition, it's still somewhat agitating as I carried out the research but lended up lacking in time.
