To start the production of this backstory, I listed a number of possible concepts that could be used when writing the backstory (in other words, listed some possible life events/character elements that would be effective to write about in the bio). This was carried out at the beginning of the production for all my character backstories.

This character is an NPC, and also one of the more minor characters that isn't in the game/story for too long (as she dies during the events of the very first island). Because of this, I feel that she's more of a minor character, but at the same time her death introduces the whole concepts/objective of the game/story, and therefore I wanted the biography to include more/be longer than the other backstories for minor characters.
 

Creation Process:
When starting my character backstory I decided that for each of them, before writing, I would plan out a list of topics/areas that the biography could include when I would go on to write them. To create this list of possible inclusions, I went back to the character profiles that I had previously created, as I had listed a number of different areas in those that I could write about.

The list for the mother's backstory is shown below:

The Backstory is shown below:
Amelia is a 45 years old mother, to Ace, and wife of Hugh. She’s one of most kind and individuals you’ll ever meet, even after going through the hardships that life has thrown her way.

She had a relatively normal childhood on Litore Island, learning the basic skills needed to live and survive on the island from her parents. Although survival on the island was not as much as a task as it was for her parents during their childhood, as the island had developed since then and had houses and buildings to live in which were built by her parents’ generation, and so the basic needs of survival, being shelter, were already established for her during her youth.
She grew up learning how to take care of herself, but throughout the years that she lived with her parents, she also developed similar traits to the ones they both possessed.

Amelia’s life changed, however, during her early adult life when the presence of another man who lived on the island caught her interest. His name was Hugh and he was only her elder by a mere two years. The man was a keen engineer and was always spotted around the island tinkering with any pieces of scrap resources that he could get his hands upon. He was well known on the island, and despite his age, respected by all of the island's inhabitants for his genius and skill at engineering.
It was around this time that Amelia and Hugh had their first encounter, as Amelia one day approached Hugh, intrigued by his work, who was carrying out his daily maintenance on an inhabitant’s ship. But Amelia, at this point in time, would have never imagined that Hugh would become the man she’d go on to love for the rest of her life and that this fateful encounter was the first of their many years together.

Life continued and years passed. But with time some significant changes had occurred on the island. The main change being that Amelia and Hugh became a couple and started their life together, which was the start of many future events, some wonderful and some rough.

But although Amelia and Hugh was now a couple, they weren’t quite a family. Not just yet. But they soon began to seem more and more like what you’d expect a family to look like. They took in a teenage boy, named Leonard, who was sadly left alone after his parents, who were family friends, passed away from an unknown illness. Although the child was not their own, both Hugh and Amelia gave him the love and support that any parent would give a child of their own, and it was thanks to this that Leonard was able to grow up to become the man he grew up to become.

However, Leonard wasn’t the only child of the family, as Amelia was pregnant for the first time in her life and soon gave birth to a baby boy. The birth was problem free, but very soon it was apparent that the child was born with an arm missing, but was still as healthy as could be. Soon after the child’s birth, he was given the name Ace. For the next few years’ life continued without the occurrence of too many unusual events, with the exception of Ace, now somewhat grown up and in his teens, receiving a mechanical arm created from his father’s genius and skills at engineering.

But there came a time for the family where times were no so bright.
Amelia’s partner, Hugh, had left on a journey to find, out of interest, a rumored island somewhere at sea. He had planned to only journey to this island for a mere few weeks, or month at most. But this turned in to his disappearance and continued absence, to this day, from *Litore* Island.
However, life continues for the family, but all they can do is wait and hope for the day that Hugh will return to the island once more, and the family can once again be together.
While other inhabitants have given up hope for Hugh, Amelia’s feelings will never falter, and day by day she continues to hope for her beloveds survival, and to one day see his face once more.
