Writing Role Research Plan - Experimentation
1. What areas of the discipline do I want to take a closer look at?
When it comes to the different areas of writing, there are many that I don't know of, meaning I will need to research into the different areas themselves.
However, one area I know of and has appealed to me the most recently would be the character biographies / back stories and world narrative. I feel as though because this area of writing appeals to me, I should look further into to it to learn how I too could create my own effective characters with their own stories and world.
Additionally, I feel as though it will be a good idea to research into how to effectively product a story narrative. I feel as though this will be important as I feel that is a fundamental, and much needed skill for story writing, meaning I will most l need to learn this and have a better understanding to allow myself to write stronger and more effective works.
2. What skills and techniques do I want to learn / improve?
As I haven't studied English since the time of carrying out my GCSEs (2016) I haven't been required to write something making use of particular writing techniques. Because of this, I feel that it would be a good idea to once again learn the different writing techniques that can be used to improve writing pieces.

3. What could I create that would enable me to improve in these areas?
To practice and prepare myself for this role within the next project, one writing task that I could carry out could be creating my own character biographies. For this I would need to create my own characters and a story for the life they've lived. This would also mean that I would need to come up with a concept for the world / area they live in, and the events that have occurred / are occurring in this world.
Additionally, I could try and begin writing my own text based game / text adventure game. During my first year of this college course the second project was to create a text adventure game for an existing game on a website known as 'inklewriter'. However, the story created for this project was most likely rather bad, and wasn't based on my own original concept. Although if I was to create a section of story, or short story as an evidence piece for this current project, I'd be aiming to create my own concept (original world setting and characters).
The use of 'inklewriter' may also be effective as it would allow me to produce a story driven game instead of just a story, meaning I could play around with the different responses the player could give characters, and the story routes the player could take. However, this approach to a story mainly benefits games that make use of multiple endings. Although you can still create single route stories on this website. But this is something I could play around with.
